Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions that are not listed here please call us: 916 600-6562 or email us.
If you would like us to call you just email your name and phone number.

  1. What do I get when I order a photo restoration? We will send a package to your mailing address with a restored/enhanced digital image copy of your original photo(s) on a cd-rom. If you ordered prints they will also be enclosed. If you send your original photo to us it will be returned to you unaltered in any way.
  2. I only have a negative for the photo I would like to have restored. Can you work from a negative? Yes we can! We can scan your negative or other transparency (slide) and make the necessary corrections the same way we would a print. You will need to send the original to us.
  3. How long will my order take? Usually an order for medium photo restoration or touch up will be about one week. Orders that include prints will take 3 days to 1 week longer. Orders may take a little longer if there is an approaching holiday. If your order is urgent because it is a gift or for a holiday please call 916 600-6562 or email us so that we can make special arrangements. There may be a small fee for a rush order.
  4. How do I pay once I am satisfied with my photo? Once you have approved of our work you may send a check or money order made payable to: P. Kapell. Our address. Once you have approved of the work we will email or send an invoice with payment instructions.
Orders paid by check will not be processed until payment is received and has been processed. Personal checks, money orders, and cashier's checks must be denominated in U.S. dollars, and personal checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank. Checks must have a valid nine-digit routing number (ABA code) encoded on the bottom of the check.
  5. I am afraid to send my photo by mail or delivery service because it may get lost. Although the mail and other delivery services are very reliable and the chances of loss or damage are rare, we understand how you may feel uneasy about sending one of a kind photos this way. You do not have to send your photo to us as we have several other options for you to choose from like: Scanning your photo yourself or having the scan done by someone like Kinko's and then emailing the photo or sending it on a disk or cd. Scans must be done at a minimum of 400dpi resolution for good results. Click here to see details of all the available ordering options. Click here for instructions on how to get your photo ready.
  6. I have a photo that is kind of blurry, can you fix this? We are sorry but we can not do much with a very blurry photo. A slightly blurry photo can be made to appear somewhat sharper by fixing all the other aspects such as color and contrasts. We will be glad to look at your photo and let you know what may be done to improve it.
  7. I would like an enlargement of my photo, can you do this? Small pictures can only be enlarged a little without losing image sharpness and becoming grainy. The larger the original and the higher the resolution the larger the print that can be made.
  8. I have some ideas about things I would like done to my photo but am not sure if what I want done is possible. Can you help? Yes! Feel free to call us 916 600-6562 and we will be glad to discuss your ideas with you. Or email us or submit the questions form with your ideas and we will get back with you promptly.
  9. I trust the mail and delivery service and would prefer sending my photo to you but I want to know what you will do to my photo. We do not alter your original photo in any way. We will scan your photo and return it to you with the up most care.
  10. How should I package my photo or disc for shipping. Photo and cd Mailers are the best packaging. If the photo is very fragile or damaged you should place the photo between two pieces of very thick cardboard. The cardboard should extend beyond the edges of the photo by 1 or more inches. Tape the edges of cardboard together and place in mailer.
  11. Regular mail:
